New Japanese 7-Seater Coming To Rival The Mahindra XUV7XO

Nissan is gearing up to strengthen its presence in India with an expanded SUV lineup. Following the launch of the Tekton on July 9, the company will introduce a new three-row SUV based on the same platform. Expected to rival the Mahindra XUV 7XO, the upcoming SUV aims to help Nissan regain momentum in the competitive midsize SUV segment.

New Nissan 7-Seater Launching Soon – What’s New?

Nissan’s last 7-seater, the X-trail, really messed up. However, the new compact 7-seater Gravite has given the brand some hope. Now, Nissan’s taking up a new challenge and planning to introduce a new mid-size 7-Seater SUV. It will be similar to the 7-seater Renault model, but will feature several changes inside and out.

The new Nissan 7-seater will be based on the upcoming Tekton SUV. Nissan hasn’t yet revealed what this new model could look like, but since it’s based on the upcoming Creta rival, it could carry over some design cues from there. The interiors will also be more or less similar to the Tekton, carrying a similar feature suite but with extra length to comfortably seat 7 people.

The features on the model could include a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, ADAS, wireless charging, a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof, and 6 airbags, among others.

Powertrain

The upcoming Nissan 7-seater SUV is expected to be offered with three powertrain options: a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol, and a 1.8-litre strong-hybrid engine. Transmission choices are likely to include a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed DCT, and an 8-speed DHT for the hybrid variant, offering a mix of performance and efficiency.

Launch Timeline & Price

Nissan has not yet revealed the actual launch timeline of the model. However, we believe that this SUV could launch by mid-2027, as Nissan has already said that it will be launching several new models within every few months. Speaking of pricing, the 7-seater Nissan SUV could range between Rs 17 lakh and Rs 27 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
